New Delhi, Aug 6: Indian race walker Priyanka Goswami created history on Saturday when she won a silver medal in the 10,000-meter race walk event at the Commonwealth Games.
She became the first Indian woman to win this medal. Goswami clocked a personal best time of 43:38.83s to finished second behind Jemima Montag (42:34.30) of Australia.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Priyanka on her accomplishment.

Kenya’s Emily Wamusyi Ngii (43:50.86) won bronze.
Bhawna Jat, the second Indian to compete, was eighth and last with a time of 47:14.13, a personal best.
At the 20-kilometer race walk event during the 2010 CWG in Delhi, Harminder Singh became the first Indian to win a medal. He took home the bronze.
