Jamshedpur, Aug 16: After two days of a good shower show which helped in bringing down the state’s rainfall deficit to 39 per cent, IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre issued a forecast of light to moderate rain at a few places today.
No weather alerts have been issued for today, as per a bulletin issued by Ranchi Meteorological Centre.
The forecast for Ranchi and its adjoining areas suggested a generally cloudy sky with light rain.
Most parts of southern Jharkhand including Simdega which experienced heavy rain on Monday, today woke up to bright sunshine. Jamshedpur too woke up to bright sunshine today with a clear sky.
Meanwhile, yesterday’s well-marked low-pressure area over northwest Bay of Bengal off north Odisha and West Bengal coasts moved west-northwestwards and crossed West Bengal and adjoining north Odisha coasts close to Digha.
The monsoon trough at mean sea level was for the last 24 hours passing through Ganganagar, Rohtak, Banda, Sidhi, Ambikapur, centre of depression over northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas of West Bengal and north Odisha and thence southeastwards to northeast Bay of Bengal extending up to 1.5 Km above the mean sea level.
The day’s reading in Jamshedpur and its adjoining areas was expected to hover around 30 degrees Celsius in Ranchi and its adjoining areas today while in Jamshedpur and other parts of Kolhan the maximum temperature was expected to be around 34 to 34 degrees Celsius.
