New Delhi, Aug 20: After the third and final ODI against England, which is scheduled to be played on September 24 at Lord’s Cricket Ground, veteran Indian pacer Jhulan Goswami will retire from international cricket, according to the BCCI sources.
Jhulan was selected for the ODI team for the forthcoming series against England on Friday. It is significant to note that Jhulan did not participate in the ODI series against Sri Lanka because she was given a break following the 2022 ODI World Cup.
Jhulan will retire having taken the most wickets in women’s cricket history across all formats. Currently, she has 352 wickets across the three forms to her name.
Mithali Raj, a longtime teammate of Jhulan’s, had earlier this year declared her retirement from international cricket. The teams for India Women’s T20I and ODI series in England were revealed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Friday. Despite being injured and unable to participate in the current season of The Hundred, Jemimah Rodrigues has been included in both squads.
The ODI series will start on September 18, while the three-match T20I series will start on September 10. A first-time T20I call-up has been offered to Kiran Navgire, who has impressed with her big-hitting skills in domestic cricket.
