Dhanbad Aug 23: The ongoing dispute in Law College Dhanbad has further aggravated after Governing Body President Raj Sinha who is the Dhanbad Sadar MLA, sacked secretary Rahul Mahto and assigned the responsibility to the principal of the institution.

While suspending the secretary with immediate effect, Raj Sinha in his order also sought clarification from Rahul  Mahto on nine points.

The governing body president in his order charged that the secretary had not followed any instructions given for improvement of the institution in the last one year. He even did not follow the directives of the University and misguided the Governing Body.

President Raj Sinha has also issued a notification appointing Law College Principal Prof Amresh Choudhary secretary of the institution with immediate effect. A copy of the order has also been sent to the Jharkhand Governor and vice-chancellor of Binod Bihari Mahto Koylanchal University (BBMKU) Dhanbad.

Meanwhile, the sacked secretary of Governing Body Rahul Mahto called the order illegal and said that the president has no legal authority to remove the secretary from his post. He alleged that Governing Body President Raj Sinha is being fed with wrong advice. He said he would challenge the order of his removal.

The dispute appeared in Law College Dhanbad after the university directed secretary Rahul Mahto to call the meeting of Governing Body on February 25, 2022, but he did not convey the instruction further. Besides it, as per the allegation, secretary Rahul Mahto issued a vacancy advertisement for the post of principal without getting consent from the Governing Body.

Moreover, going beyond his jurisdiction, the secretary constituted a ‘Disciplinary Committee’ of the institution without consulting the principal. He also charge-sheeted and suspended the officiating principal without consent of the Governing Body.
