Mumbai, Aug 23: A five-star hotel in Mumbai received a hoax bomb threat call on Monday, demanding a ransom Rs 5 crore to stop numerous explosions.
According to insiders, the call was made at the Lalit hotel in Mumbai at six o’clock. The unnamed caller said that the Lalit hotel had four bombs stashed there and threatened to detonate them if the management didn’t agree to pay a 5 crore ransom.
However, it turned out to be a hoax because following security inspections, no device was discovered anywhere in the hotel. Further investigation is ongoing after a case was reported to the Mumbai police.
Days prior to the incident, Mumbai Police’s traffic control section got a threat communication alerting them of a terrorist strike similar to the 26/11 attacks. One of the opulent hotels targeted by terrorists during the 26/11 assaults was Mumbai’s Taj Palace and Oberoi Trident.
Six persons will carry out the plot in India, according to the threat letter, which was purportedly sent from a Pakistani phone number. The message’s author claimed that Pakistan can be used to pinpoint his current position.
