On August 23, a day after arriving in the coastal state, Phogat (43), a former Tik Tok celebrity and “Big Boss” contender, was brought dead to a hospital in the North Goa district.

An official reported earlier in the day that on Saturday night, the Anjuna police in North Goa detained drug dealer Rama alias Ramadas Mandrekar for allegedly selling drugs to another dealer, Dattaprasad Gaonkar, who is already detained in connection with the case.

Prior to this, the police had also detained two of Phogat’s friends, Sudhir Sagwan and Sukhwinder Singh, who had travelled with her to Goa.
