New Delhi, Aug 28: Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Congress, criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday for his support of Khadi, claiming that his words and deeds “never match.”
On Saturday, the prime minister said that Khadi may serve as a source of motivation for realising the objective of a prosperous and thriving Bharat.
Rahul Gandhi slammed the Prime Minister, “”Khadi for the Nation,” but a Chinese polyester flag instead! As usual, the PM’s words and deeds never line up.”

The Centre’s decision to change the flag code to require that the national flag be made of hand-spun and hand-woven cotton, polyester, wool, or silk khadi bunting or machine-made material has drawn harsh criticism from the Congress. Previously, polyester and machine-made flags were prohibited from use.
Speaking at the Khadi Utsav (Khadi festival) on the Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad, Prime Minister Modi stated on Saturday that after Independence, Khadi, or the homespun fabric, was viewed as a lower-quality good.
He exhorted people to solely give gifts made by Khadi village businesses over the upcoming holiday season.
