Chatra acid attack victim airlifted to AIIMS Delhi

Ranchi, Aug 31: The 17-year-old acid attack victim Kajal Kumari from Chatra was airlifted to AIIMS Delhi from RIMS on Wednesday. According to information, the state government is bearing all the expenses of the treatment.

The Medical Superintendent of RIMS Dr Hirendra Birua spoke to lagatar24.com and said that Kajal has been referred to AIIMS Delhi for better treatment. He added that the girl can eat and talk but has a serious wound on her face. He added that the victim has been accompanied by the civil surgeon of Ranchi Dr Vinod Kumar to the airport where she will be taken to Delhi in an air ambulance.

Meanwhile, following Chief Minsiter Hemant Soren’s direction, the family of the victim was given the assistance of Rs 1 lakh on Wednesday.

Office of the Chief Minister tweeted, “Following the order of Chief Minister Shri @HemantSorenJMM, Rs 1 lakh assistance was handed over to the family members of the girl resident of Chatra, who was injured in the acid attack. On the instructions of @DCChatra, the cheque related to the said amount was handed over to the relatives of the girl being treated in RIMS.”

Notably, former chief minister of Jharkhand and BJP leader Babulal Marandi also met the acid attack victim. During the visit, he stated that the girl is fighting for her life and it the government has taken a lot of time in taking the decision to airlift her to Delhi. He also wished her a speedy recovery.

Earlier on Tuesday, Jharkhand Health Minister Banna Gupta today met Kajal Kumari, the victim of an acid attack in Chatra, and inquired about the incident from the victim’s family and relatives.

He directed RIMS Superintendent to take all necessary steps for the treatment of the victim and to arrange for the required medicines. He also constituted a Medical Board under the leadership of the RIMS Superintendent and directed that the medical bulletins should be issued every 12 hours. The Medical Board will consist of RIMS Superintendent Dr Hiren Biruva, HOD of the Surgery Department, HOD of the Eye Department and HOD of the Burn Department.

The incident happened on Aug 5 in Dhebo village under Daha Panchayat in the Hunterganj police station area of Chatra when an eccentric lover attacked Kajal and his sleeping mother with acid causing severe burns to them.
