Filmfare 2022: Ranveer Singh and Kriti Sanon bag best actor, actress award

Mumbai, Aug 31: At the 67th Filmfare Awards in Mumbai, Bollywood star Ranveer Singh won the Best Actor in a Lead Role (Male) prize for his portrayal of a cricket player in “83,” while Kriti Sanon took home the Best Actor in a Lead Role (Female) prize for “Mimi.”

Prior to Filmfare, The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) 2022 honoured Ranveer Singh with the Best Actor prize for his portrayal of “83” in the competition.

’83, directed by Kabir Khan, is based on India’s historic victory in the 1983 Cricket World Cup. Ranveer plays Kapil Dev, the captain of the World Cup-winning squad, in the film.

Speaking of Kriti Sanon, she received recognition for her work in the 2021 film “Mimi,” for which she received the award. In the movie, Kriti Sanon played the role of a surrogate mother. The film was directed by Laxman Utekar.

Kriti had already received the first best actress award of her career in May 2022, and that, too, at the 22nd International Indian Film Academy Awards in Abu Dhabi.

At the 67th Filmfare Awards, stars including Vicky Kaushal, Asees Kaur, B Praak, Vidya Balan, Vishnuvardhan, and Pankaj Tripathi also took home awards in various categories.
