Ramgarh, Sept 1: Hazaribagh Deputy Commissioner Nancy Sahay flagged off a nutrition chariot for various Panchayats of the district from the Collectorate premises on Thursday under the National Nutrition Month being run by the Social Welfare Department.
Through this nutrition awareness chariot, villagers will be made aware of five sources of nutrition in all the Panchayats throughout September. This includes information about proper care of mother and child from conception till the child completes two years of age, the introduction of an adequately nutritious diet after the child is six months old, an iron-rich diet to prevent anaemia, personal hygiene to prevent diarrhoea and cleanliness.
The DC administered the oath to all the present officers and employees to make children, adolescent girls and women malnutrition free. Everyone took an oath to spread the message of proper nutrition to every household, to make the nutrition campaign a nationwide mass movement and to provide proper nutrition to every household, school and village.
To make Hazaribagh district malnutrition free, a signature campaign was also launched from the Collectorate premises. On this occasion, District Social Welfare Officer Indu Prabha Khalkho, CDPO, sevika/helper of various Anganwadi centres were present.
