Noida, Sept 2: A court in Gautam Buddh Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, denied Shrikant Tyagi’s request for bail on Friday. Tyagi was detained last month after a fictitious video of him allegedly hitting and abusing a woman in Noida went viral.

The District and Sessions Court in Gautam Buddh Nagar’s Special Judge (Gangsters Act) Ranvijay Pratap Singh rejected the bail request, according to the decision copy.

The denial of the bail request was also verified by Shrikant Tyagi’s attorney, Sushil Bhati, to Press Trust of India.

Notably, Shrikant Tyagi (34) was detained on August 9 in Meerut by the Noida police and was later charged under the UP Gangsters and Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act.

He was also charged with beating the woman on August 5, and defrauding the court by placing stickers and a state assembly member-only emblem on his car.
