Dhanbad, Sept 6: The traders bodies in Dhanbad have served an ultimatum to the police administration to either solve the Gunjan jewellery showroom robbery incident in 12 hours or face agitation.

The Dhanbad District Federation of Chamber of Commerce (DDFCC), Jewellery Traders Association, District Marwari Sammelan and Jharkhand Industrialists Trade Association (JITA) held a joint meeting on Monday evening and resolved to launch agitation for the immediate arresting of robbers involved in the robbery.

In the incident, five car borne armed dacoits robbed jewellery worth Rs 1 crore from Gunjan jewellery showroom in the city on Saturday evening under the Dhansar police station.

As per the agitation plan, the traders of the district would demonstrate wearing black badge on September 7 from 10 am to 1 pm at JP Chowk. Next day, on September 8, traders would shut down their establishment from 11 am to 1 pm. On September 9, all traders would hold Dharna at Randhir Verma Chowk in protest against police failure.

The president of the District Federation of Chamber of Commerce Chetan Goenka, while presiding over the meeting, said that even after 48 hours of the incident police have failed to get any breakthrough in the robbery. It is a serious and concerning matter that criminals openly looted ornaments worth rupees more than a crore on gun point. It is also a challenge for the police administration.

After the incident, traders especially jewellers have started to feel insecure.

“So traders bodies are compelled to go on agitation path,” said Chetan Goenka.

The federation general secretary Ajay Narayan Lal, JITA general secretary Rajiv Sharma, Krishna Agrawal, Rajkumar Agrawal, Bank More Chamber of Commerce president Prabhat Suroliya and Pramod Goel were present at the meeting.

Moreover, a delegation BJP district Mahanagar committee under president Chandrashekhar Singh met senior superintendent of police (SSP) Sanjiv Kumar  and expressed his concern over the deteriorating law and order in the district.

The delegation demanded immediate arresting of criminals involved in the jewellery showroom robbery incident and tostart an immediate vehicles checking drive.

Vice-president Sanjay Jha, Amlesh Singh, Chandrashekhar  Munna, Ram Prasad Mahto, Jayant Choudhary, Ravi Mishra and Anil Khemka were the members of the delegation.

A senior police officer said that SSP has set up  three special teams for arresting the criminals involved in the jewellery showroom loot incident and they would be nabbed soon.
