New Delhi, Sept 7: There will be a ‘complete ban’ on the production, sale and use of firecrackers in the national capital this Diwali, Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai said on Wednesday. He also said that the ban will remain in force till January 1, 2023.

“Production, storage, sale and use of all types of firecrackers are being completely banned so that people’s lives can be saved,” Rai tweeted.

The sale of firecrackers online will also be banned, Rai said, and after consultations with the Delhi Police, Delhi Pollution Control Board and the Ministry of Finance, an action plan has been developed to ensure strict enforcement of the ban.
