New Delhi, Sept 12: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) received approval from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Monday to assume charge of the investigation into the murder of BJP leader Sonali Phogat in Goa.
The CBI will take up the case for further investigation, according to MHA sources.
Earlier, a Khap Mahapanchayat was organised on Sunday in Hisar to seek a CBI investigation into Sonali Phogat’s killing. Pramod Sawant, the chief minister of Goa, announced earlier in the day that the case would be turned over to the CBI in response to the request for a probe.
The family members of Sonali Phogat and the Haryana government had also made persistent demands in this regard.
