Dhanbad, Sept 28: A class VI girl student was allegedly beaten up by a teacher for coming to school in a casual dress. The incident reportedly happened at Urdu Upgraded Middle School Shambhari village under Barbadda police station, around 15 km away from district headquarters on Monday (September 26).
The victim student had gone to the school in plain dress after which a lady para-teacher on finding her without school uniform caught her by the hair and beat her up badly. Both teacher and student are residents of the same village. The student has stopped attending school since then in panic.
When the father of the student went to the house of the accused teacher in the evening to know the reason for the torture, the teacher allegedly abused him too and held the student responsible for the action.
The girl’s father said that since the school management did not take any action, he would a lodge written complaint at the Barbadda police station as well as the education department for action against the teacher for torturing his daughter.
He said since the school uniform of his daughter was dirty, she went to school in casual dress but rather than understanding the situation of the student, the teacher thrashed her. The injury marks are still visible on her face.
On Tuesday, the girl’s father complained to the school principal who reportedly denied the incident. However, after the pressure from the representative of the village chief, the school management held a meeting to solve the issue.
When contacted, Urdu School Principal Sabir Hussain said that a meeting was held at the school on Tuesday over this incident and the matter was solved between both parties. “Both parties have an old dispute between them and this could have triggered the complain,” he said.
