Ranchi, Sept.28: The POCSO special court convicted Mohd Faizan, an accused of raping minor. The quantum of punishment will be decided on September 30.
The case arose after Faizan befriended a minor girl through Facebook and after meeting the victim near Doranda College on November 15, 2018, he seduced her by asking her to accompany him to a birthday party. After the girl agreed he took her to a hotel located on Station Road and raped her their after giving her sedative mixed juice.
After the incident, the accused started extorting money from her by saying that he will reveal the incident. When the victim got fed up, she registered a case against Faizan at Doranda police station and the matter reached the court.
During the trial, the prosecution produced 5 witnesses while three witnesses were produced from the defence side. After hearing both the sides, the court found the accused guilty under section 376(1) of the IPC.
