New Delhi, Sept 29: A boat carrying a crew for the examination of erosion near a bridge that was under construction sank in the Brahmaputra in Assam’s Dhubri district on Thursday, leaving at least seven people, missing, an official said.
Anbamuthan claimed that while some were saved, some were able to swim to safety. Teams from the Border Security Force, National Disaster Response Force, and State Disaster Response Force were pushed into search and rescue operations, he continued.

“There is a small channel near the Dhubri-Phulbari bridge. The team was crossing the channel on a wooden boat when it hit something and capsized,” said Dhubri deputy commissioner MP Anbamuthan.
Sanju Das, a circle officer, is one of the seven people missing, according to Anbamuthan. Anbamuthan stated, “Efforts are being made to rescue them and we hope they will be discovered safe and sound soon.”
