Dhanbad, Oct 13: Over a hundred fighters from 10 states would participate in the WMC Muay-Thai ranking series championship which is to be held for the first time in Dhanbad from October 15.
The prestigious series event organized by Jharkhand State Muay-Thai Association (JSMA) would be conducted at Symbiosis Public School Dhanbad. Giving this information, the organizing committee chairman cum principal of the school Indrani Ghosh said that famous fighters of Bengal, Assam, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and host Jharkhand have confirmed their participation.
“Besides ranking series competition, state Muay-Thai Championship would be also simultaneously held and 180 fighters across the state are likely to participate in a different category,” said Indrani Ghosh.
Jharkhand State Muay-Thai Association general secretary Anupam Mahata said that WMC India promoter Balkrishna Sethi and administrator Ashutosh Dadhich ( Mumbai) would be also present on the occasion. National Federation has appointed Bengal unit president Suprio Biswasan as an observer of the WMC Muay-Thai ranking series championship.
The general secretary said that since the WMC competition is at a national level, international l referee Amit Kumar a technical committee has been constituted to conduct the events Amit Kumar had represented the country in Asian Games.
Abhishek Kumar Roy, (Bengal), Shubham Choudhary, Prasant Kumar Das (Assam) Gaurav Kumar Sab (Odisha), Satyam Saha (Bihar) and Rakesh Pandey, Raja Vishwakarma, Sabeer Sheikh Jena Ram Badra, Hemlata Sinha, Niketa Jaiswal (Jharkhand) are members of the technical committee.
Anupam Mahata further informed that the state championship would kick start on the first day (October 15) while the WMC ranking series competition would be held on the second day (October 16).
