Ranchi, Oct 16:  The Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Sports Academy (MGJSSA) hosted Manohar Topno, 1984 Olympian and President MGJSSA to inaugurate the Sylvanus Dungdung Hockey Ground at the ancestral village of Jaipal Singh in Takra; a village, about 8km from Ranchi Ring Road in Khunti district on Sunday.

Noptably, Dungdung is a member of the 1980 Gold winning Olympic Team. Topno later declared the ground open for games. He then addressed the students and talked to them on the skills and talent of Dungdung, a team mate and colleague, saying that despite his small physique, he never lost control of the ball and never let a player get past him.

Topno further emphasised on the importance of physical fitness and discipline saying that without sweat there is no gain.

Savitry Purty, vice-president of MGJSSA and the first woman player from Jharkhand (erstwhile Bihar) to be a part of the Indian team, later addressed the students. She recounted her own journey of hard work and dedication to achieve the success. She pointed out the importance of studies along with training to achieve success in life.

Kamal Horo, executive committee member MGJSSA and an international player, while addressing the students gave them 3 points for success – physical training, skill training and discipline. He told the students that they must listen to the instructions of the coach Prakash Kachhap and not question his decisions. They must come to the ground at least 15 minutes before the coach and practice the skills taught the day before.
