Ranchi, Oct 16: Three prominent leaders of Congress in Jharkhand including Alok Kumar Dubey, Lal Kishore Nath Shahdev and Dr Rajesh Gupta ‘Chotu’ had made an appeal to all 319 delegates in Jharkhand to make Mallika Arjun Kharge victorious in the election for Congress national president.

Talking to media persons, one of the delegates, Dubey said that after 22 years, there is a lot of enthusiasm among the Congress leaders and workers for the election of the party president.

Dubey said that Mallika Arjun Kharge has a long political experience as an activist and has had a spotless career. He said by nature Kharge is calm and as the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha he has always raised the issue of common people with due focus on said issues like inflation, unemployment, economy, and agriculture.

Dubey on the occasion requested the BJP to learn something from the internal democracy of a 140 year old political party. He said that as many as 9000 delegates across the country will exercise their franchise tomorrow at the state headquarters, wherein many delegates will be voting as first time delegates.

Another delegate Lal Kishore Nath Shahdeo said that as State Election Officer Prakash Joshi, APRO Jitendra Kasana and Bhavesh Chaudhary have elected PCC delegates with complete transparency; the Congress president elections will be conducted in a similar manner. He further said that under Kharge’s leadership, Congress will work to overthrow the Modi government in 2024.

State Congress Delegate Dr Rajesh Gupta said that elections in such a transparent manner are not held in any other political party in the country. Even though the party has supporters of both the candidates Mallika Arjun Kharge and Shashi Tharoor, the country needs Kharge and there is no doubt that Jharkhand will also consider this.
