New Delhi, Oct 18: The Asian Cricket Council’s Jay Shah announced on the  sidelines of the 91st BCCI Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Mumbai on Tuesday that the Indian cricket team would not be going to Pakistan for the 2023 Asia Cup.

Pakistan is set to host the 2023 Asia Cup, and sources had previously stated that the BCCI was amenable to bringing Team India to the competition. The 2023 Asia Cup may not be held in Pakistan but rather at a neutral site, according to BCCI secretary.

Under Rahul Dravid’s guidance, India last visited Pakistan for a bilateral series in 2005–06. Since Pakistan’s 2012–2013 tour of India, which included three T20Is and the same number of ODIs, the two countries have not engaged in a bilateral cricket series. Since then, neither side has competed in a bilateral series; instead, they have only faced off at international competitions or the Asia Cup.

Stadiums fill to capacity for games between the two teams since they are always eagerly anticipated. Within hours of going on sale, all tickets for the two teams’ T20 World Cup 2022 match on October 23 were sold out.

Pakistan has recently played some standout cricket against India, and they even ended India’s World Cup curse by winning the T20 World Cup in the UAE last year.

Ramiz Raja, the head of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), recently commented that Team India have started to respect Pakistan as a result of their performance and that the Babar Azam-led team should be commended for giving India a hard battle.
