Ranchi, Oct 20: Internship students working in RIMS Dental College suddenly stalled the work on Thursday as they have not been getting stipend for the past five months while there is a provision of Rs 26,000 per month as stipend for the interns.
On this demand, 50 students working in the dental college opened a front against the management and started shouting slogans. Meanwhile, the girl students told that they are demanding their rights, but no concrete initiative has been taken by the management so far.
On Thursday morning, a large number of patients reached the OPD but at around 11 AM, all the students boycotted their work and started shouting slogans and patients were asked to leave. Even the senior doctor who was present there could not do anything.
The Principal of Dental College Ashish Jain told media that the demand of these students is justified and he himself is in support of them and is also working by wearing a black badge. However, he added that their problem is almost resolved and they should go back to work.
He added that their dues would be cleared from November next month, for which the file has been sent to the higher authorities. However, he does regret that when there was talk of internship, then the entire process regarding payment of these people should have been completed at the same time. He hoped that the students would understand this and get back to work.
Moreover, the students say that this assurance has been given to them many times but they have not been able to get the money.
