Ranchi: The troubles for Riya Sinha, wife of the notorious criminal Sujit Sinha, have increased as the Jharkhand High Court on Tuesday rejected her anticipatory bail petition. With the dismissal of her plea, the threat of arrest now looms large over her in connection with an extortion case.

Extortion and Firing Allegations

Riya Sinha is accused of demanding extortion money from a builder last year.1 It is also alleged that she was involved in orchestrating a shooting at the builder’s employees to terrorize them when the extortion demand was not met. An FIR in this regard was registered at the Ormanjhi police station in Ranchi against Sujit Sinha, Riya Sinha, and others. The dismissal of her bail plea means she could be arrested by the police at any time.

Court Proceedings

The hearing on Riya Sinha’s anticipatory bail petition took place in the court of Justice Anand Sen. The state government, represented by Special Public Prosecutor Vineet Vashishth, strongly argued against the petition. After hearing both sides, the court denied her request for pre-arrest bail.
