Ranchi, Oct 26: Ahead of the Chhath festival, Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Wednesday visited ponds and different water bodies of Ranchi to take stock of preparations made by the Ranchi Municipal Corporation and the district administration.

The Chief Minister instructed the civic body and the administration to ensure complete cleanliness and make necessary arrangements for devotees. He visited Kanke dam and Hatania pond which draw huge footfalls of the devotees.

As the festival is set to start from October 28, the chief minister discussed at length with officials and gave necessary directions. He said that all ponds and water bodies must be cleaned, and pathways should be repaired without fail. He said that the emergency services like electricity, medical and rescue must remain at place. He said that devotees should not face any inconvenience.

The Chief minister showed special interest in the tourism potential of Kanke dam which supplies water to a major part of the city capital besides attracting local tourists.

Hemant Soren was disappointed for not finding suitable and up to the mark arrangements. The bare minimum infrastructure was missing, and the food court was found in a bad condition. It was clearly reflected that the state of the bad condition of the tourist spot was due to lack of coordination. Hemant Soren said that Kanke dam is a potential tourist place, and the government is keen to bring it on the tourist map of Jharkhand.

Hemant Soren was accompanied by Ranchi SSP Kishore Kaushal, Ranchi DC Rahul Kumar Sinha, Ranchi municipal commissioner Shashi Ranjan and other officials of the district administration.
