New Delhi, Nov 2: Delhi’s air quality continued to deteriorate on Wednesday with certain areas of the capital city falling into the ‘severe category.’ Delhi’s total Air Quality Index (AQI) was 354 and it was still considered to be ‘extremely poor.’

SAFAR data show that Dhirpur in Model Town had an AQI of 443 and fell within the ‘severe’ category. On Wednesday, the AQI near IGI Airport (T3) registered a 350, placing it in the ‘extremely poor’ category. Delhi University reported a 387 air quality index.

With an AQI of 428, Noida’s air quality, which has been in the ‘severe’ category for several days, showed no signs of improvement. Gurugram continued to be classified as ‘extremely poor’ with an AQI of 346.

On Wednesday, the air quality in Delhi-NCR continued to deteriorate. Ayanagar, a neighbourhood close to Gurugram, reported an AQI of 385 while Mathura Road’s AQI remained in the ‘very poor’ range at 388.

The Delhi NCR air quality index has still worsened as of Wednesday morning. 12 stations fall into the severe category and 35 stations fall into the very poor category out of the 51 stations for which data is available. The other four fall under the ‘poor’ group.

The national capital’s air quality getting worse, Delhi officials stopped all development and demolition until further orders. As soon as the air quality slid into the ‘severe’ category on Saturday, GRAP (Graded Response Action Plan) stage 3 was also implemented in Delhi.
