New Delhi, Nov 7: With half of its staff, rising losses, and a few unexpected reversals to its objectives, Twitter Inc. is entering its second full workweek under Elon Musk.
The social network company fired about 3,700 individuals on Friday, but soon after it contacted dozens of workers it determined were either fired improperly or were too crucial to the reforms the billionaire entrepreneur wants to make. In order to prevent any disruption during the US midterm elections, Musk has postponed until Wednesday applying verification check marks for subscribers to its monthly subscription service.
The whiplash events, according to those with knowledge of the matter or a business letter published on Slack, come after Musk himself acknowledged in a tweet that the $44 billion firm he and his partners purchased is losing $4 million per day.
Following Musk’s acquisition, which was finalised in late October, Twitter reduced its employees in an effort to reduce costs. Following the abrupt suspension of their access to corporate services including email and Slack, several employees discovered they had been fired. The demands for employees to come back are evidence of how hurried and disorganised the procedure was.
Requests for comment from a Twitter representative went unanswered. Platformer first revealed Twitter’s intention to rehire staff.
Individuals with knowledge of the situation estimate that there are still about 3,700 people working at Twitter. Musk is pressuring those who are still working at the company to release new features rapidly; in some cases, workers have even spent the night at work to fulfil deadlines.
Twitter has announced that it will be adding additional capabilities to its Twitter Blue membership plan. Users who pay the monthly cost will receive a verification checkmark. The business added that more features, such as half the advertisements, the option to publish longer videos, and priority ranking in answers, mentions, and searches, would soon be available.
