Dhanbad, Nov 17: The Eco Club of BIT Sindri on Thursday morning launched Prakriti 2.0 campaign to promote and maintain cleanliness on the campus.

The club members said that the mission and vision of this ambitious campaign ‘Prakriti’ are to make the BIT campus clean and green. Besides students, BIT director DK Singh, Prof RK Verma, Prof Upendra Verma, Prof Ajay Oraon and other faculty members also actively participated in the campaign.

While inaugurating the campaign, the director highly appreciated the project of students and advised them to extend the mission beyond the campus and motivate society about the importance of cleanliness.

“Since you are the members of a premier technical institution besides campus you also have the major responsibility of carrying the campaign out of campus too,” he said.

The director also suggested the students to motivate shopkeepers near the BIT gate for maintaining cleanliness and not allowing garbage scattered in the surrounding area.

Senior professor cum chief warden of BIT hostels Prof RK Verma on the occasion said to the Eco Club members, “Charity begins from home, so you should start their mission to make BIT neat, clean and green from the hostel.“

“First you start cleaning the place where you live. Even the father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi used to follow the steps before advising others. So add members to the Eco Club from all 29 hostels and start the drive from there,” said Prof Verma.

The chief warden appreciated the mission and suggested maintaining cleanliness in the hostel mess and lining up with municipal corporation vehicles for daily collection of garbage from the hostel and mess.

Eco Club president Yogesh Kumar, vice-presidents Ranveer Sagar, Neha Mahto, Vivek Kumar Mondal, Akansha Tigga (secretary), Rahul, Anshu Ravi, Krishan, Sahitya, Manjulika, Vivek Kumar, Narayan, Shivam Animesh and Anket (all 3rd years students) played a major role in implementing the drive with other members of the club.

“We enjoyed a lot in executing the mission. Our dream is to make the BIT campus beautiful. Since the disposal of a dump of garbage is a major problem, we have resolved to keep it clean on the campus,” said Neha Mahto. Eco Club of 3rd year students had launched a similar programme in May last.
