Barkagaon, Nov 19: Adani Foundation, under the Gondalpura mining project, provided a unique opportunity to women of Barkagaon wherein 25 women visited various mining projects in Chhattisgarh and closely observed the works there under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

The group of women was very impressed and expressed their desire to start it in Gondalpura and nearby villages as well after their visit.

During their three-day tour, the women visited the project “Unnayan” being run by the Adani Foundation at Parsa and Salhi in Chhattisgarh. They participated in ongoing activities such as spice grinding and packaging, dairy, organic manure production unit, sanitary pad making unit, green fodder farming farm, nursery, rainwater harvesting pond and healthy facility centres.

The group expressed its happiness over the local women of Chhattisgarh earning a good income with self-employment by doing these activities. They also looked closely at the educational shelter for the education of children in Parsa and Salhi villages, where there are better arrangements for education and living.

In an experience session organized earlier, the women of Barkagaon came to know about their experiences from the members there and also felt the changes in their lives due to this initiative. During the session, the SHG members also learned about the change in the lives of women and its social implications. Dharmendra Dubey, Site Head, Gondalpura Project and Ravi Toppo, Manager, CSR Department, among others participated in the programme.

A feedback visit learning session was also organized at Salhi village, in which Udaipur SDM Shivani Jaiswal (IAS) asked the women from Gondalpura to share their learning. The women said that if rural women around the mining site gather courage, they can try to bring socio-economic change and strengthen themselves along with their families.

They were deeply impressed by such work in Chhattisgarh and wanted to replicate it in Gondulpura and its surrounding villages, the women said. Since this visit, they have been convinced that the mining industry develops the local area and creates employment opportunities for the local people and also contributes to the social care of the local community. “The Adani Foundation is a good example of this,” they added.
