Ranchi, Nov 19: A workshop on “Effective Teaching of English and NEP” for teachers teaching primary and middle classes was conducted at Delhi Public School, Ranchi under the aegis of Ratna Sagar Private Limited on Saturday.
More than 130 teachers of 42 different ICSE and CBSE schools of Ranchi and the surrounding cities namely Bokaro, Hazaribagh, Ramgarh, Lohardaga, Chanho and Mandar etc participated in this workshop. The workshop was organised in Vivekananda Auditorium.
The main objective of this workshop was to keep the teachers updated on effective teaching methods of English, ideas and techniques required for implementation in their teaching as per the teaching pedagogy mentioned in NEP.
The resource person of this workshop was Prof Victor Allen Jabez Sudhakar, from Trichy, Tamil Nadu. He is a Post Graduate in MA English with 24 years of work experience in Admin, Recruitment and Teaching of English in CBSE, IGCSE ‘O’ and ‘A’ level boards in India and Countries like UAE, Malaysia, Maldives and Indonesia.
The workshop was extensively focused on the four core facets required for English Language Teaching: Listening Skills, Reading Skills, Writing Skills and Speaking Skills. Through various activities he made the teachers understand the varied and interesting ways to teach Vocabulary, Grammar and Creative writing.
The resource person stressed the importance of the usage of engaging worksheets of grammar and vocabulary-oriented exercises as these techniques become portals to reinforced learning. The activities of the workshop were also focused on the enhancement of lexicon, sentence structure, phonetics and parts of speech.
The teachers were also geared up for a session of brainstorming to engage in creative writing and they learned the techniques for sharpening listening and speaking skills in a learner-centred classroom.
The workshop was a great learning experience for the teachers as it provided new avenues for them in the areas of teaching English effectively and implementing the strategies of NEP.

He acknowledged the resource person for imparting effective strategies and intriguing techniques for the teaching-learning process in a proficient way.
