New Delhi, Dec 8: Early trends indicated that the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is in the lead in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s constituency as the counting of votes for the Gujarat Assembly elections began.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) opened its account with a lead on 42 seats in the Gujarat Assembly elections that began on Thursday, while Congress opened its account with a lead on six seats.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) was revealed to be in the lead on four seats after an hour of counting.

52 Assembly seats out of the total 182 seats were trending downward, according to official figures released by the Election Commission up to 9:15 am.

Bhupendra Patel, the current chief minister of the BJP, was in the lead with 7869 votes in the Ghatlodiya assembly seat. According to the EC, Patel ran against Amee Yajnik of the Congress, who had 1166 seats, and Vijay Patel of the AAP, who had 488.
