New Delhi, Dec 12: In response to complaints of crowding and congestion, Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) received a surprise visit from Union aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Monday.

Following the inspection, Scindia gathered all the parties involved in a room at the Delhi airport office and gave them important instructions.

After a torrent of grievances flooded social media over the weekend, Scindia announced that the decision was made to raise the number of entry gates from 14 to 16. Additionally, it was decided in a meeting with officials that a board should be set up at each entry gate to indicate the wait time before entry.

“Today we’ve increased the number of entry gates from 14 to 16. There was a meeting with officials inside the airport where we have decided that a board should be placed at every entry gate to display the waiting time before entry, “Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said.

It should be mentioned that travellers using Delhi International Airport’s Terminal 3 (T3) have complained repeatedly over the previous few days about lengthy lines for security checks, delays in boarding, and poor management. There were rumours going around that Jyotiraditya Scindia will make an unexpected trip to Delhi Airport’s Terminal 3 to assess the situation in light of concerns from travellers about traffic congestion.
