DPS Ranchi students bag gold in CBSE East Zone Chess and Taekwondo Championship, qualify for Nationals

Ranchi, Dec 13: The Under-19 girls’ team of DPS Ranchi secured gold medals in the CBSE East Zone Chess Championship organised at St Atulanand Convent School, Varanasi. The members of the team included Sucharita Chakraborty of Class XII, Surbhi Kumari of Class XI, Aditi Thakur of Class XI and Aditi Raj of Class IX. The team has won a total of four board prizes and was unbeaten in all the rounds. The U-19 Girls Team also qualified for the National Level of this competition which is scheduled to be held in Punjab in the month of January 2023.

The Under-14 girls’ team (Yatee Swaroopa of Class VIII, Niharika Shreshtha of Class VIII, Adya Ranjan of Class VII and Anusha Kumari of Class VI) and Under-14 boys’ team (Kushagra Astitva of Class VIII, Ishan Sharma of Class VIII, Sasmit Yashraj of Class VII and Hrishik Sinha of Class VI) have secured the third positions and bagged bronze medals for the school.

Remarkably, Priyasha Tripathi (Class XI) bagged a gold medal in the U-17 age group (44kg weight category) in CBSE East Zone Taekwondo Championship held at Sunbeam School, Varanasi.

Principal Dr Ram Singh congratulated the achievers on their achievement and encouraged them to keep up the flag of their phrontistery in the Nationals.
