PINAKI MAJUMDAR

Jamshedpur, Dec 19: The winter chill has intensified in most parts of Jharkhand with the night temperature plummeting to around 5º Celsius in  Simdega and its adjoining areas.

Weathermen said the chill has intensified due to the dry and crisp north-westerly wind. However, they said the night temperature is likely to remain more or less the same during the next 48 hours after which the Celsius would witness a rise.

The minimum temperature was hovering around 9.5º Celsius in Ranchi while Daltonganj recorded around 7.5º Celsius.

The minimum reading hovered between 8-9º Celsius in Bokaro, Dhanbad and the neighbouring West Singhbhum district.

A duty officer in Ranchi Met Centre said today’s satellite pictures indicated no adverse weather system. He said the weather would be clear and dry over Jharkhand in the next few days.
