New Delhi, Dec 19: Over 55,000 farmers from various states are likely to gather at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan today. The Bhartiya Kisan Sangh (BKS) is organising the protest march to make several requests, one of which is the elimination of GST on the purchase and sale of agricultural products.
The Kisan Garjana event is already being prepared for by the Delhi Police, and the national capital’s traffic police have intensified their efforts to ensure that citizens may move about with ease during the march.
The national capital’s residents have been given a warning about the traffic restrictions and detours by the Delhi traffic police.
Traffic restrictions and detours will be put in place on numerous roads near the protest site starting at 9 a.m. on Monday because farmers from various states are likely to travel to Delhi in nearly 800 buses and about 4,000 private vehicles, according to traffic officers with knowledge of the situation.
Eight diversion locations would be used, according to a traffic advice issued on Sunday by the Delhi Traffic Police: Bhavbhuti Marg, Paharganj Chowk, Ajmeri Gate, Delhi Gate-JLN Marg, Chaman Lal Marg, and Maharaja Ranjit Singh Marg near Mirdard Chowk.
