Dhanbad: Lord’s Club to organise Inter State Badminton Championship on Dec 30

Dhanbad, Dec 28: Lord’s Club Chirkunda (Dhanbad) will host a one-day Inter-State doubles event for the Open Badminton Championship on December 30.

Jharkhand’s cultural and sports minister Hafizul Hassan will be the chief guest and inaugurate the championship. Mayor of Asansol (West Bengal) Municipal Corporation Vidhan Upadhyay will grace the occasion as a guest of honour.

The organising committee chairman Sumama Ousal told media persons that the tournament is registered with the Jharkhand Badminton Association as well as the Dhanbad District Badminton Association in which 32 registered pairs from four states – Jharkhand, Bihar, Bengal and Odisha are participating.

“This is first of its kind tournament (only doubles event) in Jharkhand and has been organised by Lords Club Chirkunda since 1983. The tournament will be played on a knockout basis and completed in one day,” said Lords Club chairman Sumama Ousal.

Moreover, Ousal said that cash prizes and trophies would be given to the four top pairs of the tournament.

Since registered players (Badminton Association of India) of four states are participating in the tournament, an organising committee has been formed with  Lords Club members comprising Ranjit Mishra, Zahid islam, Wasim Khan, Md Aslam, Samir Khan, Aamir khan, Imran Khan, Asif Siddiqui, Aamir Urwa, Kaushar Sheikh, Md Ajij, Md  Anjum for completing successfully.
