New Delhi, Dec 28: The first T20 International series of the new year will feature three games between India and Sri Lanka. In the absence of Rohit Sharma, who is still healing from a dislocated thumb he sustained in the second ODI of the tour of Bangladesh, India has appointed Hardik Pandya as the team’s captain.
As a result, Pandya will serve as skipper for two consecutive T20I series. A few days prior, Pandya was alluded to as the captain in a broadcaster commercial, but the BCCI had not yet made an official announcement.
In the T20I series, India will also be without the services of Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant.
The two squads were announced by the BCCI selectors late on Tuesday, December 27. In the shortest international version of the game, India has made it plain that they would no longer use Dinesh Karthik and Ravi Ashwin. The club has added a few of top-order batsmen, and Hardik Pandya and Rahul Tripathi will handle the middle order. India has chosen to split up their team into six bowlers, two keeper-batsmen, four specialist batters, and four all-rounders.
