Ahmedabad, Jan 5: The members of Bajrang Dal, part of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), on Wednesday evening created a ruckus at Alpha One Mall in Ahmedabad’s Vastrapur during the promotion of the film ‘Pathaan’ starring Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone.

The Bajrang Dal’s Gujarat unit has also tweeted videos of a ‘protest’ against ‘Pathaan’, where they were seen destroying the posters of the movie, and pictures of Shahrukh Khan as well as his co-stars at a mall in Ahmedabad.

In the videos, protesters can be seen creating a commotion at a movie theatre while shouting slogans and tearing posters and large cut-outs of Pathaan’s star cast even as some mall officials were seen trying to persuade them to stop.

“Today in Karnavati Bajrangi washed, anti-Sanatan Dharma @iamsrk and Tukde gang @deepikapadukone movie will not be allowed to run now. Warned the multiplex, if the movie is released, will show its attitude. Bajrang Dal in honour of ‘Dharma’,” tweeted Bajrang Dal Gujarat.

The protesters also threatened the mall authority that if the film is released, then they will start an even fiercer protest.

The controversy surrounds the movie’s newly released song ‘Besharam Rang’. The song features Shah Rukh and Deepika romancing in Spain. Right-wing groups and some BJP leaders have demanded a ban on the film as they feel offended by the contents of the song.
