Paris, Jan 11: A man attacked several people with a knife at the Gare du Nord train station in Paris on Wednesday morning, leaving one with major injuries, said a police spokesperson.
As per information, the attacker was shot several times by police and taken to hospital with serious injuries. The police officer who shot the attacker was off duty.
Interior Minister Gerard Darmanin confirmed the attack and said that the suspect was ‘neutralised’ by the police.
“Traffic is disrupted at the departure and arrival areas of Paris Nord. Police seem to have opened fire on a dangerous person who injured travellers at Gare du Nord,” tweeted the French rail operator.
According to Radio Franceinfo, the incident occurred around 06:40 Central European Time (CET) (05:40 GMT) inside the train station.
The station is one of the busiest in Europe and is an important link between Paris, London and the north of Europe. The incident caused major train delays at the station in the early morning rush hour. Later, Police secured the area after the attack and the trains are operating normally, said Radio Franceinfo.
