Delhi Assembly Session Begins Monday, Arvinder Lovely Appointed Protem Speaker

New Delhi: Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena has appointed BJP leader Arvinder Singh Lovely as the protem speaker for the first session of the Delhi Legislative Assembly, set to begin on February 24.

The session will commence with the oath-taking ceremony for the newly elected MLAs at 11:00 AM, followed by the election of the legislative assembly speaker at 2:00 PM.

Key Highlights of Delhi Assembly Session:

• February 24: Oath-taking ceremony of newly elected MLAs at 11:00 AM and Speaker election at 2:00 PM.

• February 25: LG Vinai Kumar Saxena will address the House, and 14 Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reports will be tabled.

• February 26: Discussion on motion of thanks to LG’s address will begin at 11:00 AM, followed by the Deputy Speaker’s election.

According to the Delhi Assembly bulletin, the notice of motion for Speaker election must be submitted by February 22, 2025, before noon.

CM Rekha Gupta’s First Cabinet Decisions

Delhi’s newly sworn-in Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, who took the oath on February 22, chaired her first cabinet meeting hours later, announcing two major decisions:

1. Implementation of the Ayushman Bharat scheme in Delhi with a ₹5 lakh top-up.

2. Tabling of 14 pending CAG reports that were not presented by the previous AAP government.

Addressing a press conference, CM Rekha Gupta stated, “The Delhi government will sign an MoU with the Centre for the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat scheme, ensuring ₹5 lakh medical coverage for Delhi residents.” She further added, “We will fulfill all our commitments made to the people of Delhi.”
