New Delhi, Jan 14: The Indian squad has recalled Mumbai’s Prithvi Shaw for three T20 international matches against New Zealand. After being dropped from the team in 2021, Shaw, who has been brilliant form in the domestic setup, has finally won his spot back.
Shaw recently made a huge message to the selectors with a spectacular 379 against Assam in the Ranji Trophy.
Chetan Sharma, the chairman of the selectors, has hinted during the T20 World Cup that Shaw would be given credit where credit is due. Finally, the threats made against New Zealand are being carried out, with spinner Mitchell Santner taking the helm in their absence.
Given that the management has chosen to rest Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli for consecutive T20I series at home, Hardik Pandya is expected to head the squad once more with Suryakumar Yadav serving as his deputy.

It appears that India will follow the same strategy leading up to the ODI World Cup, managing the workload of the veterans or gradually phasing them out of the team. Rohit and Virat were absent from the Sri Lanka T20Is earlier in January.
