Jharkhand: Hazaribag MLA donates air-conditioned hearse van to NGO

Hazaribag, Jan.16: An air-conditioned hearse van (Shaw Vahan) was donated by Sadar BJP MLA Manish Jaiswal to an NGO in Hazaribag on Monday. Jaiswal sanctioned Rs 14 lakh from his MLA fund for its purchase. 

He said now the tradition of carrying dead bodies on shoulders is changing and in such a case, this van will prove its utility. Even this van will be used for carrying unclaimed dead bodies as well as helpless too. 

About this Rs 14 lakh van designed to carry dead bodies, it has a number of facilities. Right from keeping the dead body safe in the AC chamber, it has a sitting arrangement of ten people. 

A place is there to light up incense sticks. Other facilities include a mobile charging point and a moving stretcher. The ambulance has transparent glass from both sides to see the dead body from outside. Even it has designed in the way to decorate the van with flowers.

Jaiswal donated this van to Muktidham Sewa Sansthan. Neeraj Kumar of the Sansthan took the keys from Jaiswal. 

Jaiswal said the van is needed as people want to use it now to take bodies for cremation. 

“I have sanctioned funds for this purpose resulting in the purchase of this AC vehicle,” he added.

Jaiswal said this facility will be free for the needy and a nominal amount will be charged to others to bear the fuel cost and its maintenance.
