Jamshedpur, Jan 16: Police on Monday arrested five persons involved in Mohammad Sabir’s murder that took place at Zakir Nagar under Azad Nagar thana area in Mango on January 13.

Those arrested were identified as Atalique Ahmed, Sarfaraj Alam, Saddam Hussain, Mohammed Taz and Saif Ali Saqeer, all residents of Mango.

Revealing the breakthrough, senior SP, Prabhat Kumar said that Sabir (45) was murdered due to rivalry in the land sale-purchase business he was involved in.

“Sabir was active in the land sale-purchase business at Kapali, an area in Seraikela-Kharsawan district, adjoining to Mango. The accused who was also in the same business as Sabir had warned him of dire consequences while trying to stop him from carrying out the business. But as he continued with his business and also helped a local guy in getting police support, the accused launched an armed attack on him,” said Kumar while addressing a press conference.

Some of the accused had on January 12 night assaulted one Mohammed Sajjat at Azad Nagar. Sabir had taken Sajjt to the senior SP office on January 13 morning. The accused had attacked the murder victim the same night.

Notably, Sabir had sustained more than one gunshot injury. He was first admitted to the Tata Main Hospital but as his condition deteriorated there, the family members moved him to a hospital in Calcutta on January 24 morning. He succumbed to his injuries on Sunday.
