Dhanbad, Jan 17: The district administration organized ‘Run for Safety’ in the coal city today to mark the closing of the Road Safety Week programme (January 11 to 17) of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highway.
Deputy development commissioner (DDC) Shashi Prakash Singh and superintendent of police (SP rural) Reseema Ramesan while leading the Run for Safety appealed to the people to follow traffic rules for the safety of themselves and other.
The ‘Run for Safety’ kicked start from City Centre and after reaching Randhir Verma round about near Court More returned to the Gandhi statue at City Centre. Besides DDC and SP rural, almost all senior officials of district administration including SDM Prem Kumar Tiwary, district transport officer Rajesh Kumar Singh, DSP (law and order) Arvind Kumar Binha, DSP (headquarter) Arvind Kumar Pandey, traffic DSP Rajesh Kumar, executive magistrate Kumar Bandhu Kachhap, district sports officer Dilip Kumar and Road Safety manager Sunil Kumar completed the run.
People from different organizations also joined in the run.
On the occasion, DDC Shashi Prakash Singh said that every year hundreds of people die from violating rules. So we must follow the safety guidelines and road safety norms while driving the vehicle.
While expressing satisfaction over safety awareness campaign launched in the district from January 11 to 17, DDC said that we made people aware of saving road accident victims in ‘Golden Hour’.

“Besides it, we also motivated and encouraged the people to follow safety guidelines while driving for the safety of themselves and pedestrians,” he said.
