New Delhi, Jan 20: The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Friday imposed 60 percent fine on Team India for maintaining a slow over-rate in the first ODI against New Zealand on Wednesday.
“India have been fined 60 per cent of their match fee for maintaining a slow over-rate against New Zealand in the first ODI in Hyderabad on Wednesday,” the ICC release read.
“Javagal Srinath of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees imposed the sanction after India were ruled to be three overs short of the target after time allowances were taken into consideration,” the release further added.

India defeated New Zealand in the opening one-day international of their three-match series on January 18. Mohammed Siraj, a local hero, shone in the match, taking four wickets in a run-fest. India failed to complete their overs in time in a tight match that was won by 12 runs.
There was no need for a formal hearing, according to the ICC, because skipper Rohit Sharma had admitted guilt to the offence.
India’s second ODI game will now be played in Raipur, where the series will continue. As they prepare for the second game of the series, New Zealand will be hoping for stronger help from their top-order hitters. Kane Williamson, the team’s captain, and senior fast bowler Tim Southee are both out of the lineup because they had to return home to balance their schedules.
After taking a beating from Michael Bracewell in the previous game, India may decide to alter their starting lineup.
