Dhanbad: Vacant posts of teachers in universities to fill up in nine months

Dhanbad, Jan 21: Vacant posts of teachers and non-teaching staff in all six universities of the state would be filled up in the next nine months.

The secretary of Higher and Technical Education Rahul Purwar said that the government is serious to fill up all vacant posts of teachers in universities for streamlining the education system. The rules have already been framed and a roaster is being prepared for the appointment process.

Rahul Purwar, who reached here on Friday evening for an assessment of the new building of Binod Bihari Mahto Koylanchal University (BBMKU),  held a marathon meeting with vice-chancellor Sukhdeo Bhoi, said, “If all goes as per the plan of government, appointment on vacant posts of teaching and non-teaching staff in all six universities would be completed by September.”

The colleges and Post Graduate (PG) departments in all six universities of the state have been reeling under an acute shortage of teachers.  Several colleges in different universities are functioning without teachers in different subjects mostly in science.

The higher and technical education secretary said that appointment would be made through Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission and JPSC under new guidelines of UGC. 

“After getting a proposal from the university regarding vacant posts of teachers and non-teaching staff appointment process would be completed in six months,” he said.

Over alleged irregularities in the construction of BBMKU’s new building, the secretary of higher education said that he had not received any complaint in this regard so far. If a complaint is lodged in this regard he would, of course, conduct an inquiry into it.

The visit of the secretary of higher education to Dhanbad keeps significant as the BBMKU VC Sukhdeo Bhoi had last month refused to shift in the building of the university after detecting massive irregularities in construction.  

While talking with media persons, he had even alleged that he was facing pressure from the government and local administration to take over the building.
