New Delhi, Jan 27: Omar Abdullah, the leader of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, joined the Bharat Jodo Yatra of the Congress as it approached the Kashmir leg from Banihal.
“Our voices are not heard in Delhi. Rahul Gandhi, who himself belongs to a Kashmiri Pandit family is here and we welcome him,” he said.
“They are cowards. If elections were to be conducted here today, BJP won’t stand a chance,” he added.
The former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir stated that he does not like to discuss the position taken by the Congress about the revocation of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status.
The NC leader added that Gandhi did not begin the yatra for personal reasons but rather out of worry for the country’s attempts to sow communal strife and target minorities.
“This government might be making friends with Arab countries but the fact remains that there is no representative in this government from the largest minority of the country,” he said.
“It might be for the first time since Independence that the ruling party does not have a single member of parliament either in Lok Sabha or Rajya Sabha from the Muslim community. It shows their attitude,” he added.
