Palamu DC, Red Cross Society distribute food baskets to TB patients of tribal groups

Daltonganj, Jan 27: The nine TB patients belonging to the primitive vulnerable tribal groups were given their first of the six food baskets by the ex officio chairman of the Red Cross Society Daltonganj and Palamu DC A. Dodde on Republic Day.

Notably, One food basket would be provided per TB patient for six months.

Giving this information, the secretary of the Red Cross Society Daltonganj Dr Satyajit Gupta said the Red Cross has to adopt 18 TB patients belonging to the primitive vulnerable tribal groups by becoming Nikshay Mitra under the PM TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan wherein India has set a target for the elimination of tuberculosis by 2025.

Dr Gupta said the nine PVTG tuberculosis patients turned up for their baskets which contained pulse, peanuts, grams, jaggery, mustard oil and gram flour.

Moreover, efforts are on to trace the other renaming nine PVTG tuberculosis patients to avail of this food basket. 

These people will have their food baskets every month for six months at the end of the day of the receipt of the food basket like February 25 as their first instalment of the food basket was on January 26.

The ministry of health government of India has launched National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme under which poor TB patients are to be adopted who can’t afford to have a sustained diet and the person or institution which adopts is described as Nikshay Mitra.
