Dhanbad, Feb 3: BJP MLA from Baghmara Dhulu Mahto today got bail in a six-month-old case of an alleged extortion and murder attempt on a coal trader. The court of District and Session judge Prabhakar Singh after hearing the argument of senior defence lawyer SN Mukherjee ordered releasing MLA Dhulu Mahto on bail.
However, despite getting bail from the court today, BJP MLA Dhulu Mahto, who has been lodged in Dhanbad jail since January 9, will remain behind bars as he has not been given bail in three other cases.
Today he got bail in a six-month-old case of September 4, 2022, filed by coal trader Deepak Kumar Chouhan, the proprietor of Maa Gauri Enterprises in Barora police station of the district against MLA Dhulu Mahto and 15 other persons for demanding extortion and murder attempt.
As per the FIR lodged by Deepak Kumar Chouhan in Barora police station, MLA Dhulu Mahto’s supporter Ajay Mahto at 1 pm on September 4, 2022, attacked him along with 14 other persons at Muraidih Coal Weighing Bridge (Kata Ghar) abusing and attempting murder saying that they would not allow any DO holder (who takes coal delivery order from the company) to take away coal without paying Rs one lakh on per 1000 ton coal.
As per the FIR, when Chouhan refused to pay extortion, Dhulu Mahto’s supporters attacked him.
