Ranchi, Feb 14: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren today criticised the previous ‘double engine’ government which was not able to do any development work in the state prior to 2019. He added that in 2019, the state moved towards development but the opposition is unable to digest it.
The CM was addressing the Khatiani Johar Yatra at the District Stadium in Latehar.
Without naming the BJP, the CM said that people from Gujarat and Maharashtra ruled Jharkhand for 20 years.
“Those who used to run the country ran Jharkhand but did not allow the development of Jharkhand. Today, Gujarat and Maharashtra have gone far ahead in terms of development, but Jharkhand is among the most backward states in the country.,” the CM said.
He added that there are such villages in the state, where there is neither a road, electricity or a single wheel.
He further said the previous govt never wanted the development of tribals, Dalits and minorities.
Addressing the program, Minister Satyanand Bhokta said that BJP has given nothing to the country except inflation.
“Today, Rs 100 per litre petrol and Rs 1,200 cooking gas cylinder are being sold in the country. After independence, not even a single local candidate has become an MP from Chatra Lok Sabha. There will be a change in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections,” he said.
Latehar MLA Vaidyanath Ram said that the Chief Minister has gifted the much-awaited degree and women’s college to Latehar during this visit.
He urged to reconsider the decision of Latehar Nagar Panchayat to reduce holding tax and charge a two per cent market fee.
Manika MLA Ramchandra Singh raised the issue of irregularities in the recent survey of land in the Latehar district and demanded a re-survey in the district.
Barkagaon MLA Amba Prasad also addressed the program and termed this government the people’s government.
The stage was conducted by JMM District President Lal Moti Nath Shahedav. District 20-point Vice President Arun Kumar Dubey, Congress District President Muneshwar Oraon and RJD District President Rampravesh Yadav etc were present on the occasion.
Earlier, Chief Minister Hemant Soren held a meeting with the top officials of Chatra and Latehar districts in the New Police Line. He directed to speed up the development works.
He said that the year 2023 is the year to work. He instructed the officers to change their working style and put development works on the ground.
He directed them to implement Jal Jeevan Mission and other schemes properly and said that laxity in this will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
