New Delhi, Feb 19: India defeated Australia by six wickets in the second Test of a four-match series at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Sunday to grab an unassailable 2-0 lead.

India finished the chase in 26.4 overs on the third day of the game after Australia were bowled out for 113 in their second innings, setting a target of 115. Ravindra Jadeja registered a seven-wicket haul while Ravichandran Ashwin took three as the hosts bundled out Australia for 113 runs.

During lunch, India was winning 14 to 1. Although his spin teammate Ravichandran Ashwin claimed three Australian wickets earlier in the day, Ravindra Jadeja replied with outstanding figures of 7/42 in 12.1 overs.

Travis Head led Australia in scoring with 43 off 46 balls, but the others suffered due to poor shot selection on the sluggish Kotla track.

India has won two of the previous three Test series it has played against Australia. With two more Test matches remaining, India has already made sure they cannot lose this series. In addition, Australia has now been without the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for almost ten years. Australia last had possession of the trophy in 2014–15, when they triumphed 2-0 at home.

Brief Scores:

Australia: 263 and 113 all out in 31.1 overs (Travis Head 43, Marnus Labuschagne 35; Ravindra Jadeja 7/42, Ravichandran Ashwin 3/59).

India: 262 and 118 for 6 in 26.4 overs (Rohit Sharma 31, Cheteshwar Pujara 31 not out; Nathan Lyon 2/49).
